Cancer & Prevention
What causes cancer? There are many ideas out there on what these causes might be. One thing that seems fairly clear is there is no one cause of cancer. To come up with a plan that would guarantee a person would not get cancer is impossible. I do believe that by taking certain steps we can improve the odds in our favor, and that might be the best thing we can do for ourselves, at least until research can come up some more definitive information for us.
Cancer and its prevention is a subject I'm very drawn to. With cancer striking more and more people, if one is able to avoid it their entire life, then I'm thinking they have accomplished quite a feat for that lifetime. I confess, I do love a challenge.

This link is to an article that was also in the Binghamton paper a few weeks ago. What it doesn't mention is that "processed" meats contain sodium nitrate. This is the cancer-causing preservative found in bacon, ham, sausage, hot dogs, and many deli meats if you read the ingredient label. This is a good ingredient to avoid and now that there are studies to "prove" it, hopefully the food industry will come up with something different to preserve meat with. Until they do, it's best to avoid whenever possible.
